At its February group of sessions,
the General Synod agreed that draft legislation which would
enable women to be consecrated as bishops in the Church of England
should be passed to a Revision Committee for detailed scrutiny.
This draft legislation and related papers were published in
December 2008.
The Revision Committee will comprise (ex officio)
the members of the Steering Committee appointed from the Synod by
the Appointments Committee of the Church of England in November
2008 to be in charge of the draft legislation throughout its
Synodical stages, together with additional members newly appointed
to constitute the majority of the membership of the Revision
Committee.
The members of the Steering Committee are:

The Chair of the Revision Committee, the Ven Clive Mansell
(Archdeacon of Tonbridge, Rochester), was appointed at
the same time as the members of the Steering Committee. The
Appointments Committee has now appointed the following further
members of the Synod to the Revision Committee, bringing the total
membership of the Committee to 19:
